My Path Into Healing
My journey began in 2007 when my father passed unexpectedly, and a year later I became caretaker for my grandfather’s final months. Although they never said it directly, I absorbed a quiet message: there is something more out there. Grief became the doorway; I left a promising career as a software engineer and followed the call to the mountains of Colorado.
Crested Butte captured me instantly. The extreme ski terrain and backcountry access lit up my adventurous side, which expanded into high-level rock climbing, requiring coordination of both body and mind. The West Elks and San Juans became teachers of patience, resilience, and grounded presence.
I stayed because of the community. Fourteen years of ritual, volunteering, and artistic engagement offered a missing experience for my psyche. It was here I discovered ways to contribute and integrate fully into the culture of “Be More Wild than Good.”
Spiritual, Somatic, and Mind-Body Exploration
During these years, my inner life deepened. I trained in Reiki (Levels I and II) and attended multiple 10-day Vipassana meditation retreats, opening my somatic field and teaching me to track the body’s wisdom.
A pivotal moment came when I was chosen as Crested Butte’s Green Man, exploring vitality and erotic energy. This led to a week-long retreat with Om Rupani, delving into intimacy, polarity, and sacred sexuality through conscious BDSM. This work revealed the transformative potential of erotic energy and its integration into somatic and relational healing.
Professional Training & Clinical Experience
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University and spent years supporting high-acuity clients in community mental health, navigating complex family systems.
I also completed Hakomi Level 1 & 2 training, providing a somatic, mindfulness-based therapeutic foundation that forms a central pillar of my practice today.
My Approach at Broad Winged Counseling
Broad Winged Counseling integrates:
Somatic Therapy – working directly with the body’s stored trauma
Trauma Recovery & Nervous System Healing – regulating patterns that shape reactions
Relational Attunement & Attachment Work – exploring dynamics in relationships
Spiritual Depth & Mind-Body-Spirit Integration – aligning cognition, intuition, and embodied presence
Erotic Intelligence & Men’s Embodiment – exploring sexual energy and masculine healing
I work with adults and adolescents, individuals and couples, who are seeking depth, ready to reclaim emotional clarity, connection, and resilience, and explore their body-based, somatic experience.
